Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Watch Duplicates Lord Leighton "Pavonia" Painting In Enamel

At the request of an important British art collector, Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre created a Piece Unique example of its famous Reverso timepiece, its reversible case depicting a miniature version of Lord Frederic Leighton's celebrated painting "Pavonia".   The private collector owns the original 1858 Lord Leighton painting, and desired a miniaturized replica which he could wear on his wrist--a daunting challenge which the artisans of Jaeger-LeCoultre were more than willing to accept.  

In all, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso "Pavonia" watch demanded no less than 120 painstaking hours of work to complete.  Its creation necessitated the combined efforts of Jaeger-LeCoultre's irreplaceable team of master enamel artists--one of the last safeguards of an ancient and arduous craft.  

In June, a week-long exhibition held at the George Tarratt showroom in Leicester will present Lord Leighton's original painting in addition to the extraordinary Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch which it inspired.
