With Baselworld 2009 not far off, Swiss watchmaker Concord has revealed tantalizing images of an avant garde new timepiece--the C1 Quantum Gravity. Created by Concord with assistance from BNB Concept--the same firm who helped develop Concord's award-winning 2008 C1 Tourbillon Gravity watch--the C1 Quantum Gravity takes avant garde mechanics to an even higher plane. Among the remarkable technical elements include a dual-axis tourbillon suspended on the outside of the case, and bridges which feature a unique system of supporting cables.
Concord states in its press material that the C1 Quantum Gravity watch summarizes the contemporary Concord brand philosophy, of "time inevitably linked to space". A three-dimensional dial creates a sense of space above all else, according to the brand. The dimensions of the Quantum Gravity watch--47.5mm in diameter, and over 22mm in height--certainly contribute to this effect. A hinged "Officer" caseback reveals a sapphire crystal exhibition window, where a structure of strikingly right-angled bridges with open-worked structures greet the eye.
Concord has created a Pre-Baselworld teaser website, which offers some glimpses of the Quantum Gravity watch, and the "C-Lab" team behind its genesis. Click here to visit the site.
