The Movado Group has chosen Loek Oprinsen and Marc Michel-Amadry as co-presidents of the luxury watch brand Ebel, to replace outgoing Ebel worldwide president Thomas van der Kallen. According to a media statement, van der Kallen--worldwide president of Ebel since 2005--chose to resign because of "personal reasons".
Loek Oprinsen is president and commercial director of Ebel, while Marc Michel-Amadry is president and creative director. Michel-Amadry is also responsible for the brand's marketing and public relations campaigns. Both men bring with them extensive experience in the luxury sector. Oprinsen served for a decade within the Richemont Group, before being appointed as managing director for Ebel Germany.
Before joining Ebel, Michel-Amadry worked within the LVMH luxury group; in 2003, he came on board with Ebel as international marketing director, and three years later ascended to the position of marketing vice president. Oprinsen and Michel-Amadry have served in their new roles since Monday, and report directly to Movado Group CEO Efraim Grinberg.
"Loek and Marc have considerable experience in watchmaking and luxury at the international level", said Grinberg. "Both were essential to the success of the Ebel brand. I am convinced that Loek and Marc, with the support of the strong team under their leadership, will continue to elevate the Ebel brand and its success in the luxury watch market."
The Movado Group CEO also expressed his thanks to Thomas van der Kallen "for his contribution to the development of the Ebel brand over the past four years."
