Bulgari Sotirio Bulgari Watch Commemorates Bulgari's 125th Anniversary

In commemoration of Sotirio Bulgari's creation of an illustrious luxury brand 125 years ago, Bulgari has revealed an exceptional new timepiece fitting the grand occasion.  Set for availability in September 2009, the Bulgari Sotirio Bulgari watch presents a strikingly original case and dial, in combination with an exclusive self-winding mechanical movement.

The debut piece in the new Sotirio Bulgari watch collection features a 42mm case in 18-karat gold; the displayed version is in pink gold, although versions in yellow and white gold will also be offered.  The design departs from the well-established Bulgari tradition of a bezel displaying the brand's signature. Also distinguishing the form of the Sotirio Bulgari watch are the strikingly angled strap lugs, that seem to form an "X" through the dial; the distinctive angles highlight intricate contrasts between satin and polished finishes, and produce an impression of modernity tempered by classical elegance.  A silvered dial with a vertical Cotes de Geneve pattern and curved satin-brushed elements secured by screws further contributes to this aesthetic concept.  The hand-applied Roman and baton hour figures and the skeletonized hands are subtly faceted.  A date display appears in a vertical semi-circular window at 3 o'clock.

Lifting the hinged double back of the Bulgari Sotirio Bulgari watch exposes the BVL 250 Caliber through a window of sapphire crystal.  Comprised of 250 individual parts, the BVL 250 has a diameter of 25.60 millimeters, and stands just 3.73 millimeters in height.  Frequency of the pin-regulated glucydur balance is 28,800 vibrations per hour, and power reserve is 55 hours.  Decorated with Cotes de Geneve patterns, the bridges display a unique cutaway design that echoes the design elements of the case and dial.  Also sharing the same design is the uniquely shaped central winding mass, with its colimaconnee finishing and 18-karat gold peripheral mass.  Exacting finishing is applied to the smallest details such as jewel settings and screws, to ensure compliance with the expected excellence of the haute de gamme movement category.  

125 examples of the Bulgari Sotirio Bulgari watch will be produced in each of the three shades of 18-karat gold.  Each watch is fitted with a hand-sewn alligator strap and an ardillon-style buckle personalized with the Bulgari signature.
