Longines The Official Timekeeper Of Royal Ascot

Swiss watchmaker Longines will continue to serve as the official timekeeper of Royal Ascot, widely considered to be the most celebrated horse race meeting in the world.  Longines timers will monitor all the Ascot flat races, including those which will take place at the Royal Meeting.  The relationship is set to hold until the conclusion of the 2009 flat race season.  

Longines will also serve as a co-sponsor for the newly inaugurated (as of 2007) Royal Ascot Fashion Show, which showcases the creations of some of the United Kingdom's leading designers, including such luminaries as Vivienne Westwood, Mathew Williamson, Phillip Tracey, Amanda Wakeley, and Gieves and Hawkes.  This year, the show took place at the luxurious Bessborough Restaurant, and Longines timepieces for both men and women made a prominent impression throughout the elegant proceedings.

The Ascot Racecourse was founded in 1711, by Great Britain's Queen Anne.  An Act of Parliament in 1813 assured that the racing grounds would remain open to the public.  Of all the races which take place there, the Royal Ascot event is particularly famed, marked by the attendance of the Royal Family.  A strict dress code for both men and women have made the Royal Ascot as notable for sartorial flourish as it is for horse racing excellence. 

The Ascot events are of great importance to Longines, and bolster the Swiss watch brand's long and distinguished heritage as a timekeeping partner to many prestigious sporting disciplines.  Longines has been the official timekeeper of the Ascot Racecourse since 2007.
