Carl F. Bucherer Pursues Watch Movement Development, Appoints New Technical Development Executive

Swiss independent watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer has announced the appointment of Dr. Albrecht Konrad Haake, 36, to the position of Executive Vice President Technologies.  Haake, a graduate of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, built his career within the watch industry as a specialist in industrialization and production methods.  

At Baselworld 2008, Carl F. Bucherer took a big step forward as a luxury watchmaker by introducing its first in-house mechanical movement, dubbed the CFB A1000.  Among his responsibilities, Dr. Haake will continue the technical development of Carl F. Bucherer as a movement manufacturer, and will also supervise the creation of movement modules and the complex cases for which Carl F. Bucherer is known.  Haake will also manage production of the brand's workshops in Legnau, and the Carl F. Bucherer Technologies SA at St. Croix in the Canton of Vaud--a specialist facility devoted to the development and creation of mechanical watch calibers.  

Commenting upon his role in the company, Dr. Haake said, "An exciting challenge awaits me: I shall have to guarantee the stable production of our first manufacture movement and at the same time maintain the high quality of our products, especially of course of our new watch movement.  The caliber CFB A1000 provides the ideal basis, upon which to develop further interesting and useful additional functions in our workshops, for which Carl F. Bucherer is so much in demand all over the world."
