This exclusive and prestigious mechanism serves as the motor for the Zenith ChronoMaster Grande Date watch, which Zenith has enriched further with a bold and highly legible large date mechanism. Capable of precision timing to 1/10 of a second, the chronograph mechanism is governed by a column-wheel, and is horizontally-coupled, both characteristics associated with classical chronographs of high quality. Thanks to its balance wheel which oscillates at a rapid 36,000 times per hour, as well as the careful adjustment by the Zenith watchmakers, each Chronomaster Grande Date El Primero watch has earned a chronometer certificate after 15 days of demanding tests by the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (C.O.S.C.). The complex architecture and fine finishing of this movement is visible through the exhibition sapphire window in the caseback. The Zenith Chronomaster Grande Date watch radiates exceptional attention to detail in each aesthetic element, from the distinctively elegant Chronomaster case, to the superbly executed dials with their breathtaking "grain d'orge" guilloche patterns.
