Chopard L.U.C Tourbillon With Silicon Escapement To Be Auctioned At F1 Charity Luncheon

Swiss watchmaker Chopard will commemorate the upcoming Singapore Formula One Night Race by hosting the President's Challenge F1 Charity Luncheon on September 26, 2008.

Specifically for this official race event, Chopard will introduce a unique tourbillon watch from its manufacture L.U.C collection, styled in the strikingly contemporary Tech Twist format.  The Chopard L.U.C Tourbillon Tech Twist with the Winding Assistance System is presented in a 42mm white gold case.   In addition to the unique W.A.S. (winding assistance system) which facilitates efficient charging of the movement's twin stacked mainspring barrels, the movement incorporates an ultra-light aluminum caged tourbillon that features a world premiere Chopard escapement in silicon.   As is the case with other tourbillon movements manufactured by Chopard, this balance employs the distinctive variable inertia "Variner" system, which permits a fine range of adjustment for the moment of inertia; the caliber has also earned a COSC chronometer certificate, a distinction which is quite rare among modern tourbillon movements.  Fully wound, this exceptional Chopard caliber has a power reserve of nine days.   

The Chopard L.U.C. Tourbillon Tech Twist with silicon escapement will be offered for sale at a silent auction, along with a Happy Sport timepiece whose dial encloses a miniature race car.  The proceeds generated by the sale of these special Chopard watches will be donated to appointed charities.
