Steven Stamkos--No. 1 NHL Draft Pick--Is New Tissot Brand Ambassador

Swiss watch brand Tissot has announced the selection of Canadian hockey star Steven Stamkos as its newest ambassador.  Stamkos, a center for the Tampa Bay Lightning, signed a contract with Tissot that stipulates his representation of the brand on and off the ice, as well as an appearance in various global advertising campaigns.  Tissot has been involved with the sport of hockey for over a decade, serving as the official timekeeper for the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships since 1996.  

“We are delighted to welcome Steven into our global Tissot family” said Francois Thiébaud, President of Tissot. “Steven represents the future of our brand as he is ambitious, has a fighting spirit and at the same time is firmly attached to traditional values. We believe that he will be a real asset to our brand and an example to many young people around the world and we are sure that he will become one of the stars of the sport in the future."

For 2009, Tissot plans to launch a limited edition Steven Stamkos watch that will feature Stamkos's team number "91" engraved on the back, and some hockey-inspired design touches.

The fact that my name is being put forward for a limited edition watch that my fans can acquire gives me a great feeling and I look forward to working with them over the coming years."
