Richard Mille Pendulum Clock Celebrates 400th Anniversary Of Quebec

Acclaimed high luxury watchmaker Richard Mille has completed a remarkable equation of time pendulum clock, which marks the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec.  The clock, which stands just over three meters in height, shares the contemporary design of all Richard Mille horological creations, proudly emphasizing the structural fascination of fine mechanics.

Among the complications displayed by Richard Mille's astronomic clock are a perpetual calendar, a second time zone, a constant force winding system, and an equation of time that shows the difference between mean solar time and civil time.  The clock was commissioned from Richard Mille by the Republic and Canton of Jura for Quebec, as a token of friendship and a tribute to a shared French-speaking culture.  An official presentation ceremony took place at the Francophone Summit in Quebec on October 18th and 19th.  The clock will be permanently on display at Montreal's Bibliotheque Gabrielle Roy.

Richard Mille has been involved in other horological projects outside the realm of wristwatches.   In 2007, Mille debuted a remarkable Planetarium Tellurium in conjunction with acclaimed watchmakers Robert Greubel and Steven Forsey.  This complex timekeeping machine presented a functional depiction of a partial solar system, complete with a rotating earth that orbits the sun, a rotating moon that orbits the earth, moonphases, and an equation of time complication.
