A. Lange & Sohne, the famous German luxury watchmaker, recently held a "Saxon Art of Watchmaking" exhibition at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills. Conducted through October 24th-28th, the event gave collectors and connoisseurs a number of fascinating opportunities, including a series of watchmaking and engraving workshops; viewers not only got an intimate perspective on the art of watchmaking, they were able to experiment with movement assembly and decoration--under the patient guidance of A. Lange & Sohne artisans.
A variety of special A. Lange & Sohne timepieces were on display, including the newly introduced Cabaret Tourbillon and limited edition pieces which have long been sold out, such as the famous Tourbillon Pour le Merite. Another treat for exhibition guests was the chance to examine two historic Lange pocket watches from the private collection of a Japanese enthusiast.
The A. Lange & Sohne "Saxon Art of Watchmaking" Exhibit brought together a range of actors, directors, producers and other Hollywood notables, who were attracted by the exceptional watches on display, as well as a range of special events, VIP dinners and receptions. On hand to host these affairs was Fabian Krone, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, and Marcia Mazzochi, President of A. Lange & Sohne North America. One such event, on October 25th, was attended by Clint Eastwood and producer Albert S. Ruddy. On the final day of the event, a special dinner honored Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, who showed up in his A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual.
A. Lange & Sohne has conducted similar in-depth watchmaking exhibits the last two years. Singapore hosted the first, in 2006, followed by Tokyo in 2007.
