Jaquet Droz 270th Anniversary Commemorated With Design Prize

Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaquet Droz celebrated its 270th anniversary in New York City's Museum of Arts and Design this November, taking the moment to announce a new design prize conceived in partnership with Parsons the New School for Design.  

"We’re looking for artists who have shown creativity in their works, but still appreciate the value of craftsmanship," said Jaquet Droz president Manuel Emch. "They must display a technical mastery of their craft, but be willing to take risks in their designs to reshape the landscape of their craft."

Guests attending the intimate celebration also enjoyed a range of special Jaquet Droz watches, which had been transported from Switzerland.  In addition to some of the acclaimed novelties from Baselworld 2008, including the Reserve de Marche Ceramique and Grande Seconde Sports Utility Watch, historically important original 18th century creations by Pierre Jaquet Droz were also present.
