The Hermes Cape Cod H1 Grand Hours watch offers a delightful alteration of the way in which time is perceived.  Perhaps inspired by Einstein's humorous quote about the relativity of time ("Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity."), Hermes created a timepiece that appears to lengthen certain hours of the day and shorten others dramatically.  Six different time-telling sequences are available, enabling the watch to be customized to the user's view of which parts of the day should be drawn out, and which should go by quickly.  

Ticking inside the Hermes Cape Cod H1 Grand Hours watch is the self-winding H1 caliber, a creation of the Vaucher Manufacture in Fleurier.  Made up of 202 individual components, the H1 features coupled mainspring barrels for a 50-hour power reserve.  Balance wheel frequency is 28,800 beats per hour.  An exclusive module with special oval-toothed wheels governs the varied movements of the hour hand, giving the watch its unique hour presentation.  A sapphire exhibition window presents the movement's fine finishing details, which include an H-pattern motif on the bridges.

The Hermes Cape Cod H1 Grand Hours watch is presented in a slightly cambered 37 X 36.5mm stainless steel case and features a silvered or anthracite dial.  The crystal is manufactured from sapphire.  Each timepiece is completed by a luxurious strap in hand-sewn alligator or barenia calfskin.  The security deployant buckle is made from  stainless steel and bears the Hermes signature.
