Tag Heuer Monza Watch

If you did not see the Tag Heuer logo on the Monza watch you might never know that Tag manufactured such a stylish timepiece. This watch boasts a very unique 1930’s design. The cushion shaped case is a combination tonneau meets TV screen with a circular sapphire. The Monza watch was designed as a tribute to the Monza racetrack which was built in Italy 1922 for the Italian Grand Prix. For car racing fans this is one of the fastest and most demanding race tracks on the Grand Prix circuit. Tag Heuer decided to manufacture the Monza after the finish of the 1971 race in which five drivers finished at the same time.

The Monza is a medium sized watch measuring in at 39.5 mm. Tag has developed an automatic and chronograph version. The Chronograph Monza features a round crown that is slotted on the sides, and oversized stop watch like chrono pushers. Several dial and case combinations are available including yellow gold with white dial on brown or black leather strap, stainless steel with white or black dial and black guilloche version dial. The seconds and minutes sub dials on the Monza are cushion shaped as well, and set at three and six o’clock. The hour subdial however is round and set at 6 o’clock to give the design some variety. The Automatic version has a very clean dial design with Arabic numerals at twelve and 6 o’clock, and stick markets for all the other hours. The seconds subdial is cushion shaped, with the date window set next to it between the four and five o’clock markers. Both the automatic and chronograph versions are water resistant to 50 meters.
