Pre-Baselworld 2008: Ebel 1911 Tekton Ajax Chronograph, 150-Piece Limited Edition For AFC Ajax Football Club

Following upon its success with exclusive Tekton chronographs for football teams Arsenal FC and FC Bayern Munich, Swiss watchmaker Ebel will take the opportunity afforded by Baselworld 2009 to present a new watch for historic Dutch football club AFC Ajax-- renowned pioneers of the playing style of "total football".  Like the earlier football-inspired chronographs from the "Architects of Time", this limited edition Ebel timepiece presents unique thematic details in concert with a specialized complication designed especially for measuring match times.  

The Ebel 1911 Tekton AFC Ajax Automatic Chronograph features a 48.50mm case in brushed stainless steel.  The signature hexagonal bezel of the Ebel 1911 Tekton watch is crafted from black rubber, a sober detail that smartly emphasizes the intricate multi-level silver dial with its red flange and distinctive chronograph functions; the alternations of red and white immediately evoke the design of the Ajax jersey--an attribute shared by the 12 o'clock hour index.

Appearing through the sapphire crystal exhibition back is the manufacture Ebel 245 caliber with its thematic football-shaped winding mass.  This exclusive self-winding chronograph caliber, which has obtained a COSC chronometer certificate, animates a unique mechanism that measures the 45-minute intervals of match half-times, as well as match extra times.  The rotating disc which appears at 6 o'clock on the dial keeps track of elapsed hours, in accord with the 45-minute  periods.  Additionally, the Ebel 245 caliber incorporates a date display, which offers the capability for rapid adjustment when required.  

Ebel will produce 150 numbered examples of the 1911 Tekton AFC Ajax Automatic Chronograph; the first 15 pieces are being offered in an exclusive pre-release by Dutch retailer Gassan Diamonds.  The watches are fitted with a sporty strap in black technofiber, and a folding stainless steel clasp engraved with the Ebel logo.  Equipped with a screw-down winding crown and rubberized chronograph pushpieces, the Ebel Tekton AFC Ajax watch is water resistant to 200 meters.
