SIHH 2009: Officine Panerai Presents New Manufacture Movements - P.9000 Series

In 2009, luxury watchmaker Officine Panerai reveals a new family of manufacture calibers. Designated as the P.9000 series, the three new in-house calibers--P.9000, P.9001, and P.9002--will be fitted in a range of the Panerai model lineup, including the Luminor Submersible watch, the Luminor GMT watch, and the Luminor Marina Automatic watch.

Across its various implementations, the Panerai P.9000 family of movements share certain characteristics. All are self-winding, present subsidiary seconds and the date, and measure 13 3/4 lignes. Twin spring barrels allow the P.9000 calibers to achieve a 3-day power reserve. A reset feature which instantly returns the second hand to zero enables precise setting of the time to a signal. The most complex of the three variants--the Panerai P.9002 caliber--features a GMT function for a second time zone, and a power reserve indicator.
