The Chopard L.U.C. Tourbillon watch is a masterpiece of haute horlogerie that epitomizes the finest in the Geneva watchmaking tradition. The heart of the Chopard L.U.C. Tourbillon watch is its L.U.C. 1.02 Quattro movement. Like its stablemate, the L.U.C. 1.98 Quattro caliber, this Chopard tourbillon movement is manually wound, and offers a power-reserve of 8-days when fully wound, courtesy of 4 mainspring barrels, which are stacked co-axially in pairs, and operate in series to ensure ideal isochronism and energy transmission to the movement.

The tourbillon device, which completes one rotation per minute, is equipped with a patented Chopard balance wheel adjustment system, called "Variner" which permits exceptionally fine adjustment o f the balance's moment of inertia. When combined with the Breguet overcoil hairspring--each of which is crafted by hand by a single Chopard specialist---this movement is capable of truly awesome timekeeping precision. As a testament to this, each movement inside a Chopard L.U.C. Tourbillon watch has undergone and passed the 15-day testing procedure of the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (COSC)---notably, Chopard remains one of only two distinguished Geneva Manufactures which goes through the extra step of submitting their tourbillon movements for this Chronometer certification.

Aesthetically, the Chopard L.U.C. 1.02 Calibre is outstanding, and each movement has undergone innumerable decorative steps, both in places visible to the eye, as well as those areas that only the Chopard watchmaker will ever see. Bridges and plates are decorated with hand-applied cotes de Geneve on their topsides, and the edges are delicately rounded with shimmering anglage. The unders ides of the plates are painstakingly decorated with perlage finishing of various sizes, on all surfaces, and the components of the keyless (winding) works also offer impeccable finish. All of the movement's engraved technical specifications are plated with gold to ensure that they never fade or discolor; this also ensures a beautiful contrast with the fine rhodium plating on the movement surfaces.

The tiny steel tourbillon cage is hand-finished in anglage, and several of the large jewels are set in golden chatons. As a result of the intensive degree of handcraft, traditional materials, and exacting construction, each Chopard L.U.C. 1.02 Quattro Tourbillon movement proudly bears the Geneva Quality Hallmark (Geneva Seal). The Chopard L.U.C. Tourbillon watch has an exterior that is ideally matched to its masterful mechanism. The classically contoured 39.5mm case, crafted from 18K rose gold or platinum, displays flawless finishing, courtesy of Chopard's equally distinguishe d background in the jewelry arts. The dials of these Chopard L.U.C. timepieces are crafted from gold, and given an intricate guilloche texture; they display expressive Roman numerals and stick figures which are elegant yet visually distinctive. At the top of the dial, an indicator shows the status of the power-reserve. The Chopard L.U.C. Tourbillon watch is completed by a finely crafted remborded crocodile strap and a platinum or 18K gold folding clasp, which has been engraved with the Chopard signature.
