Blancpain Villeret Moonphase watch

The Blancpain Villeret Moonphase watch is an ultra-thin, and exceptionally refined classic round watch that displays one of the most beloved complications in the repertory of watchmaking technique---the complete calendar with moonphase indication. Recalling the nostalgic days of the 1940's and 1950's, when the triple calendar watch reigned supreme, the traditional arrangement of day, date, month, and moonphases are perfectly at home within the beautiful format of the round Villeret case.

The heart of this fine timepiece is the selfwinding 6763 Calibre, produced by Blancpain's prestigious integral movement Manufacture, Frederic Piguet. This fine movement is possessed of many fine qualities, not the least of which is its impressive 100 hour power reserve, and ultra-slim construction. At a low height of 4.9mm the 6763 Calibre is composed of 261 pieces, each carefully refined by hand before being assembled by a single Blancpain watchmaker from start to finish.

The bridges are decorated with Cotes de Geneve, and the edges are finished in anglage, while the plates feature a circular-grained perlage decoration. The complete calendar mechanism, unlike that of a perpetual calendar, requires manual correction to account for months which are shorter than 31 days. To allow for this, the date (as well as day, the month, and the moonphase display) can be easily adjusted, when required, via the classic solution of correctors on the side of the caseband.

The 38mm case of the Blancpain Villeret Moonphase watch is beautifully finished, its lustrous surfaces the result of extensive hand finishing. It is produced in stainless steel with a white dial, 18K red gold or 950 platinum with an opaline dial, and in 18K white gold with an opaline dial, or a very striking alternative in rich Havana brown; all models are completed with fine crocodile straps with buckles in steel, 18K gold, or platinum.
