SIHH 2009: Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady Watch

For 2009, the Girard-Perregaux 1966 watch collection gains a model exclusively for women.  A superb demonstration of classicism and grace, the new 1966 Lady watch repeats the essential form of a timepiece which marks the achievement of Girard-Perregaux obtaining a Centenary Prize from the Observatoire de Neuchatel for significant contributions to the field of chronometry.  

The polished pink gold case of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady watch measures a feminine 30mm in diameter.  Sixty round brilliant diamonds which total 0.55 carat in total, encircle the bezel and highlight the purity of the mother of pearl dial; gold leaf-shaped hands mark of the passage of hours and minutes against eight diamond hour markers, and slender applied gold Roman and baton hour indices.  A gently curved crystal in synthetic sapphire spans the case, offering excellent protection against scratches.  

Animating the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady watch is a manufacture creation of the house--the self-winding Caliber GP 3200.  This slim mechanical movement which has an overall thickness of just 3.20 millimeters, features a smooth balance that oscillates 28,800 times per hour; power reserve of the barrel is 36 hours.  A sapphire crystal exhibition window in the screw-secured gold caseback reveals bridges adorned with Cotes de Geneve patterns, and a gold central rotor that displays an interlocking "GP" decorative motif.  

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady watch is water resistant to 30 meters.  A strap in alligator leather completes the ensemble, joined to an ardillon buckle in 18-karat gold.  A white gold version of the timepiece will also be produced.
