Basel 2008: Breitling Chrono-Matic 49 Watch

The Breitling Chrono-Matic 49 watch is a dynamic, stylish sports instrument.  In its design, bold size, and style this timepiece revives the spirit of the original Brietling Chrono-Matic timepiece, which debuted in 1969 and showcased a revolutionary automatic chronograph mechanism.  

The Breitling Chrono-Matic 49 watch features an imposing 49mm case whose brilliant polish and angularity emphasizes dynamism and fine craftsmanship.  The dials, presented in various attractive "epargne"-finished color schemes, feature contrasting chronograph subdials decorated with concentric circles.  The geometric design of the hands, the markers, and the stylized Breitling logo proudly crowning the dial at 12 all pay homage to the original design.  Key to the design's technical appeal is the rotating slide rule that permits a range of a calculations.  Molded rubber elements on the steel bezel make it a simple matter to turn the bezel, which rotates on pinions.  The watch is water resistant to 30 meters, and equipped with a sapphire crystal that is coated with anti-reflective material on both sides.  Straps available include barenia leather, and an "Ocean Racer" rubber version; the intricate Aero Classic bracelet is an elegant alternative.  

A self-winding movement designated as the Brietling 14 Caliber animates the Chrono-Matic timepiece.  Certified as a chronometer by the Contr?le Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), the mechanism has a balance frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour.  The watch indicates the date and subsidiary seconds, while the chronograph function can record intervals within 30 minutes or 12 hours.    

The Breitling Chrono-Matic 49 watch is also presented in an 18K red gold version, the production of which is limited to 500 pieces.
