Antiquorum, a leading international watch auction firm, has identified Gerald Chase as its new majority shareholder. Chase, an experienced business executive, investor, and entrepreneur, made a formal announcement on June 3rd, stating that he had "joined the ownership of Antiquorum."
According to a statement, Chase, who is part of a group of "sophisticated investors" with an interest in Antiquorum, invested CHF 2.2 million in May to acquire a 51% stake in the auction house, and also loaned it another CHF 5 million. At the time, Antiquorum indicated that they had received a capital increase from a private investor, but had not divulged any names.
Mr. Chase has been owner, or president and CEO of a variety of domestic and multinational companies since the 1970's, including food-related businesses, real estate, and public accounting; he has also served, or is actively serving on the board of directors of several companies. Chase also possesses experience in the international auction arena, having served on the board of RM Auctions, Inc. a specialist in classic automobiles.
