Seiko Spring Drive Moonphase Watch Awarded "The Golden Balance Wheel"

Seiko has won a "Golden Balance Wheel" prize, which is awarded by the German watch publication Uhren-Magazin, to timepieces across five price categories. Competing in a highly crowded field of more than 400 competitors from the world's leading brands, including Omega, Panerai, Rolex, and Glashütte Original, Seiko securely clinched the award in the "'Up to 5000 Euros" group with its Spring Drive Moon Phase model.

Readers of the magazine cast single votes in late 2007 for "World's Best Watch 2008"; the top 10 in each of the prize ranges then went to a second round, and a final selection was made via an online ballot, which involved more than 12,000 registered votes.

The Seiko Spring Drive Moon Phase watch features the revolutionary Spring Drive electromechanical movement technology which has been developed and manufactured by Seiko. Comprising 288 parts, the 5R67 movement offers a power reserve complication in addition to the moonphase indicator. A sapphire crystal exhibition window reveals the movement bridges, whose unique curved decorative pattern evokes the ethereal motions of heavenly bodies. Production of this timepiece is limited to a series of 200, with each watch bearing its individual number on the rotor.
