Mermod Freres Musical Watch

The Mermod Freres Primo 4 musical watch, first previewed at Baselworld 2007, is now available. Presented in a 45.5mm case made from 18K gold, the Primo 4 will play a musical selection, thanks to its system of four rotating discs with pins, which turn over a note comb; each disc plays approximately 10 seconds of a musical selection, which may be chosen by the client. Compositions which may be selected include W.A. Mozart's "The Magic Flute", Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D, Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons", or a Hungarian Dance by Johannes Brahms. The pushpiece at 8 o'clock initiates the performance, whenever the owner desires.

The Mermod Freres Primo 4 watch features the MF-101 caliber, which is comprised of 577 individual parts, including the musical elements. The design of the movement components, as well as the construction of the case has been optimized by Mermod Freres to achieve a perfect acoustic result. More than a year of development was required to perfect the design, and several patents have been applied for to protect the unique technical elements. Power reserve of the movement is 40 hours, and balance wheel frequency is 28,800 beats per hour.

Mermod Freres will offer 50 pieces each of the Primo 4 timepiece, in pink, white, and yellow gold; straps are in alligator, and are fitted with matching gold pin buckles. Each timepiece is available with various degrees of personalization; elements such as the hands may be in polished gold, or blued gold, according to the wishes of the client. Each timepiece is delivered in a presentation grade Macassar ebony box. The proposed retail price in Switzerland is 104,000 CHF.
