Pre-Baselworld 2009: Breitling Navitimer 125th Anniversary Watch

Swiss watchmaker Breitling marks the passage of its 125th anniversary with a limited edition model of its historic Navitimer Chronograph.  Naturally incorporating the famous slide rule bezel which enables a variety of calculations, the Breitling Navitimer 125th Anniversary watch recalls classic models in this historic family of pilot's timepieces with such elements as a two-counter chronograph complication and a rigid "Air Racer" bracelet.  

Manufactured from stainless steel or 18-karat red gold, the case of the Breitling Navitimer 125th Anniversary watch features a curved sapphire crystal which is anti-reflective treated on both sides, for maximal reduction of glare.  The stainless steel variant is fitted with a black or bronze dial, while the red gold version features a black or silver dial.  In both choices of metal, the hours are marked by polished applied baton indexes.  

The Breitling Navitimer 125th Anniversary watch is animated by the Breitling 26 Caliber, a self-winding mechanical movement which has undergone and passed 15 days of precision tests by the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (COSC).  A balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour enables the chronograph function to record independent time intervals to within 1/8 second.  A crown-adjusted date display is also featured.  The power reserve of the Breitling 26 Caliber is approximately 42 hours.

Breitling will produce 2,009 examples of the 125th Anniversary Navitimer watch in stainless steel, and another 125 in red gold.  The water resistance of both models is 30 meters.
