Star Watchmakers Halter, Smith, and Voutilainen Visit Singapore

Singapore watch retailer The Hour Glass hosted a recent lunch for famous independent watchmakers Roger W. Smith, Vianney Halter and Kari Voutilainen.  The three men--considered among the vanguard of outstanding horological talent--showcased some of their finest creations before a selected group of journalists at Gunther's, an elegant restaurant specializing in modern French cuisine.

Roger Smith, protégé of the great master Dr. George Daniels, presented his Series 2 watch, which evokes classic British horology and uses the acclaimed Daniels escapement.  Standing in contrast to the classicism of Roger Smith's Series 2, were the avant-garde timepieces of Vianney Halter, represented by the Classic, the Trio Grande Date, and the iconic Antiqua Perpetual with its distinctive separated calendar displays.  Kari Voutilainen proudly displayed his rectangular Chronometer 27, a timepiece which displays the Finnish watchmaker's great skill for both decorative mastery and watchmaking technique.

In addition to the tantalizing creations of the three master watchmakers, the guests all enjoyed the opportunity for excellent conversation on a wide variety of horological topics.
