Corum To Be Timekeeper And Supplier Of Skandia Cowes Yacht Week, August 2nd-9th

Swiss watch brand Corum will continue its prestigious association with Skandia Cowes Yacht Week in 2008, serving as both official timekeeper for the various races, and lending its presence as a supplier.  Corum will present models of the its famous Admiral's Cup watch collection to those sailors who are tops in their respective competitive groups.

The Corum brand has long been passionately involved in the world of yacht racing, and is particularly famed for its association as a major sponsor of the Admiral's Cup races, for which its flagship timepiece collection is named.  In tribute to the prestigious sport, each Admiral's Cup watch features a 12-sided bezel and a dial decorated with nautical pennants.

Skandia Cowes is one of the most successful and long-standing sporting traditions in the United Kingdom.  With the exception of the periods during the two World Wars, the event has taken place every August from 1826 onward.  For 2008, the event will attract more than 8,500 sailors from 15 countries who will race in over 1,000 boats.  

Corum will award the overall winners of both the "white group" and "black group" fleets with Admiral's Cup Challenge 44 watches that are fitted with white and black dials respectively.  The overall Ladies Day Trophy winner will also receive a special prize, in the form of Corum's Admiral's Cup Competition 40 watch.
