Swatch Group Obtains Burri SA Watch Division, Sells Michel AG To Ferton Holding

The Swatch Group will acquire the watch components division of Burri SA, a company possessed by Ferton Holding SA which has been a supplier of components to Swatch Group companies for years.  As part of the deal, Swatch will obtain the Burri factory buildings in Moutier along with a staff of 72 employees and all machinery.

For their part, the Swatch Group is selling their Grenchen-based company Michel Pr?zisionstechnik AG to Ferton Holding; Michel AG is involved in the production of automotive components.  The operations of the company and its 166 employees will be ongoing in Grenchen under the new guidance of Ferton, whose key focus will be automotive and medical technologies and applications.  

By separating itself from Michel AG and gaining greater control over the components related to watch manufacture, the Swatch Group is able its focus to the greatest extent possible upon its core business in the watch sector.
