Erwin Sattler Trilogie Unites Wristwatch, Winder, And Table Clock

German clockmaker Erwin Sattler has introduced an impressive horological creation to commemorate their 50th Anniversary.  Named for its three distinctive highlights, the Sattler Trilogie combines a precise table clock with 15-day power reserve, to a programmable rotating watch winder which holds a self-winding Erwin Sattler regulator timepiece--the company's very first wristwatch.

The table clock itself is a truly masterful creation.  Its wooden base is decorated with richly-grained inlays in Maccassar ebony, which supports a brass frame plated in nickel.  An electrically-controlled mechanism lifts the crystal cover on demand, 
exposing the fine finishing of the elegant clock displays which feature power reserve indication, small seconds, off-set hours, and date.  Up top, it accomodates the sophisticated Rotalis watch winder, which features a USB interface and utilizes gold-plated gears.

The Erwin Sattler wristwatch is presented in a stately 46mm case in 18K gold, with screwed strap bars.  A subtle brushed finish highlights the elegant simplicity of the sterling silver dial with its finely blued spade and feuille hands.  The self-winding movement that animates the watch is based upon the reliable Valjoux 7750 chronograph caliber, which has been extensively modified for the unique regulator functions.  To realize the unusual 12 o'clock-oriented seconds display--which features a unique "jumping seconds" feature--Sattler received assistance from independent watchmakers Maria and Richard Habring, who developed and patented the seconds complication.  An exhibition window in sapphire allows a full view of the movement and its solid 18K gold winding mass, which has been skeletonized and decorated by hand by renowned engraver Jochen Benziger; in addition to guilloche patterns, the rotor is also engraved with the individual number of the watch, and the commemorative notation "1958-2008".

The Erwin Sattler Trilogie will be offered in a limited edition of 150 pieces--50 examples each for wristwatches in yellow, white, and rose gold.  Each watch is completed by a hand-sewn alligator strap and a deployant buckle in the appropriate color of 18K gold.
