Carl F. Bucherer Presents 2008 Hotel Of The Year Award In Pontresina

Swiss watch manufacturer Carl F. Bucherer in collaboration with GaultMillau Switzerland has selected the Grand Hotel Kronenhof in Pontresina for the "Hotel Of The Year 2008" award, based on its excellence in service, exclusivity, innovation, and attention to detail.  Managed by Heinz E. Hunkeler and Jenny Hunkeler since 2006, the Grand Hotel Kronenhof is the sole five-star hotel located in Pontresina.  Explaining the reason behind the selection, Bruno Jufer, Marketing Director of Carl F. Bucherer stated, "A hotel was selected, which reflects the values of our company and our products perfectly.”

A presentation ceremony took place on the Kronenhof's scenic grounds, attended by Carl F. Bucherer CEO Thomas Morf, respected Swiss sound artist Boris Blank, and a cadre of important local guests in the fields of politics and tourism.  Heinz E. Hunkeler delivered an acceptance speech, expressing his gratitude for winning the prize, as well as his pride in the Grand Hotel Kronenhof:  “The Kronenhof has always worn a crown, but this distinction gives it another more beautiful one, indeed the most beautiful crown”.

2008 is the second year which the Carl F. Bucherer watch brand has participated as a sponsor in the award selection process, a role it plans to continue in 2009.  Based in Lucerne, Carl F. Bucherer possesses a history dating back over 80 years, and stands out today as an independent Swiss watch brand.  Among its many popular timepieces include the Patravi TravelTec watch which presents several timezones, and its feminine Alacria collection.  In 2008, Carl F. Bucherer introduced its first in-house mechanical movement--the CFB A1000.   The new manufacture caliber features a number of unusual features, including a peripheral winding rotor, and an escapement adjustment system which can be secured in place to resist shocks.
