DeWitt Academia "Nebula" Perpetual Calendar GMT Watch

The DeWitt Academia Perpetual Calendar GMT "Nebula" watch is the latest complicated timepiece from the exclusive Geneva-based watchmaker.  Inspired by one of the spiral-shaped galaxies of Eridan, this poetic DeWitt timepiece presents its complex astronomic displays in an original and utterly captivating fashion.

The DeWitt Academia Perpetual Calendar GMT Nebula Watch features an intricately designed round 43mm case crafted from white gold, or a combination of rose and white gold; both versions have accents of titanium and black ceramic.  The complex dial is in two parts--the lower section bears the triangulate displays for date, month, leap year, second time zone, and day of the week (from left to right) and bears a "Cotes de Geneve" pattern; the upper section is rendered in goldfluss glass, which creates a sparkly effect reminiscent of a night sky.  Upon this striking surface is the moonphase display, which positions a mother of pearl moon upon a goldfluss surface.  The spiral pattern of the planetary nebula is depicted in blue silicon, which effectively evokes a romantic vision of the cosmos.  

The self-winding DW 7021 movement animating the DeWitt Academia Perpetual Calendar Nebula watch is 3.6mm tall, comprises 21 jewels, and has a power reserve of 42 hours.  This complex mechanism automatically takes into account the varying lengths of months, adjusting itself accordingly through the changes in February brought on by the leap year cycle; it also incorporates a 24-hour display which can be set to keep track of a second time zone.  A sapphire crystal back exposes the fine workmanship of the movement, which is hand-assembled by a single DeWitt watchmaker.  

DeWitt will be producing the Academia Perpetual Calendar GMT Nebula watches in a very limited number.  Each timepiece is finished by a hand-sewn alligator strap and a folding clasp in 18K white or rose gold, according to the model.  Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.
