Jaeger-LeCoultre Hosts Gold Cup Polo Charity Party In Spain

Following the exciting action of the 37th Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup at the International Polo Tournament of Sotogrande, Jaeger-LeCoultre hosted a lavish gala dinner on the grounds of the Santa Maria Polo Club to celebrate the famous Swiss watch brand's long involvement with the sport.  A focal point for hundreds of the international polo elite, the event also drew a number of celebrities, among them the Duchess of York, fashion model Astrid Munoz, and Spanish television personality Carolina Alcazar.  

Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jerome Lambert was on hand to present a check for 16,000 Euros to Teresa Morenes, the Countess of Asalto, for the purpose of assisting the work of the Nuevo Futuro Association.  Part of these proceeds were generated by a vigorous mixed match between an international and all-Argentinean team, the latter of which featured four Jaeger-LeCoultre brand ambassadors; the match concluded in a tie at 6-6, with each point scored raising 500 Euros.  

Jaeger-LeCoultre maintains an extremely close relationship with world class polo, sponsoring the finest international polo matches and the most illustrious polo athletes--among them such stars as Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Adolfo Cambiaso, and Juan Martin Nero.  The historic Swiss watch brand has been indelibly linked to the sport of polo since 1931--the year in which Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the famous Reverso watch.  The reversible rectangular case of the Reverso was intended specifically to offer optimum protection to the crystal and dial during the vigorous action of a polo match.  The Reverso watch concept has expanded greatly in the ensuing decades, and today it includes a number of complicated models, as well as the square Reverso Squadra line, which for 2008 gains a series of timepieces especially for women.
