Swiss watch brand Maurice Lacroix has revealed that Martin Bachmann, 46, will assume the position of chief executive officer, effective on November 1, 2008. Bachmann will take over the position held by outgoing Maurice Lacroix CEO Philippe C. Merk, who in recent news was nominated to be the CEO of Audemars Piguet.
Martin Bachmann has been on the executive board of Maurice Lacroix for seven years, and holds the position of global director of Marketing and Country Operations. These responsibilities will jointly be assumed by Marc Glaser, global director of sales, and Sandro Reginelli, an executive board member who will oversee the work of the marketing team.
Maurice Lacroix's focus on the ongoing development of manufacture watch movements and elite complications was confirmed by Bachmann. He stated: “Together with my management team, it’s my goal to continue this successful strategy. We will build on our innovative strength and creativity, with which we also intend to inspire our customers in the coming years.”
Among the horological accomplishments which Maurice Lacroix has gained acclaim for in recent years include the development of sophisticated double retrograde functions, and an in-house Maurice Lacroix chronograph movement, which debuted in 2006. In 2008, Maurice Lacroix again captured the attention of watch connoisseurs with the introduction of the extremely complex Memoire 1, the world's first mechanical timepiece capable of memorizing intervals of elapsed time.
