Swiss watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer has received a prestigious accolade for its manufacture CFB A1000 movement which was announced at Baselworld 2008. The German watch publications Urhen Magazine and Focus awarded Carl F. Bucherer the "Goldene Unruh 2009" technical prize for exceptional mechanical movements, following the tallying of votes by thousands of readers.
First announced at Baselworld 2008, the self-winding CFB A1000 caliber displays a number of distinctive horological solutions, most notably a unique peripheral winding rotor, and a patented Central Dual Adjusting System (CDAS) that offers improved shock resistance and stability for the balance and escapement.
At a gala event at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart on February 26th, Carl F. Bucherer CEO Thomas Morf graciously accepted the Goldene Unruh prize from Christian Pfeiffer-Belli and Thomas Wanka of Uhren Magazine. "We are very proud that our manufacture caliber has been distinguished by winning the watch magazine’s special technical prize," said Morf. "The CFB A1000 with its peripheral winding rotor illustrates perfectly what Carl F. Bucherer stands for--watchmaking innovation. At the same time, this construction necessitates fewer components and thereby increases the life expectancy of the movement".
The first Carl F. Bucherer watch to utilize the CFB A1000 caliber will make its debut at Baselworld 2009. This watch, the Patravi EvoTec DayDate, will feature a specially-constructed module that controls a large date complication and a day of the week display.
