The Corum Admiral's Cup has long been one of the world's most recognizable luxury sport watch designs, and a great success for Corum, who has created many variations within the collection. With the impending debut of the Corum Admiral's Cup Challenge 48 Black Flag, this nautically-themed family of timepieces will gain an extremely attractive limited edition variant.
Set to be offered in an edition of 100 pieces exclusively for the United States market, the Corum Admirals Cup Challenge 48 Black Flag features a black titanium case, a rubber bezel, and a intricately shaped anti-reflective sapphire crystal with twelve distinct facets. Measuring 48mm in diameter, the case presents a shape that evokes the hull of racing yachts; the screw-down crown is protected by massive flanks which also provide an appealing platform for the angular lockable chronograph pushers. Unique to this special Corum Admiral's Cup timepiece is a black dial with a vertical Cotes de Geneve pattern, and hands and hour markers with blue superluminova material. Other dial details, such as the nautical pennant rehaut and compass rose motif on the chronograph subsidiary seconds dial will be familiar to watch lovers from other Admiral's Cup Challenge chronographs. A screw-down titanium back adorned with a rendering of the Admiral's Cup trophy assists in achieving the impressive water resistance rating of 300 meters.
The Corum Admiral's Cup Challenge 48 is animated by the self-winding corum CO-753 caliber, which features a balance frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Featuring perlage decoration and a Corum-personalized central winding mass, the CO-753 has also earned a chronometer certificate after passing 15 days of precision tests administered by the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (COSC). In addition to the chronograph with 30-minute and 12-hour counters, the movement also showcases a rapid-adjust date feature, which can be seen on the dial between four and five o'clock.
Each Corum Admiral's Cup Challenge 48 watch is completed by a black strap in vulcanized rubber, and a broad titanium tang buckle engraved with the Corum symbol. The watch will be officially unveiled on November 20th, at a Tourneau retail location in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
