Lorena Ochoa, the world's top ranked female golfer since April of 2007, received the 2008 Rolex Player of the Year Award. This prestigious accolade is Ochoa's third in as many years. In 2008, Ochoa won seven tournaments, and walked away with the Vare Trophy for having the year's lowest stroke average in the LPGA. The award ceremony took place at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, FL.
