Daniel Roth Papillon Watches With Sparkling Gemstones

High luxury watch brand Daniel Roth in Le Sentier, Switzerland has unveiled opulent new variations of its striking Ellipsocurvex Papillon timepiece, whose elegant gem-setting accentuates the sophisticated charm of an unusual and ingenious mechanical time display.

These new Daniel Roth Ellipsocurvex Papillon watches are available in 5N 18K red gold, or 18K white gold.  The unmistakable double-elliptical case design which immediately identifies these timepieces as being from the house of Daniel Roth, is set with black and white round brilliant diamonds in the red gold version, and diamonds and blue sapphires for the white gold model.  Both models also show off a visually striking winding crown, which showcases seven fluted surfaces.    

The Daniel Roth Papillon watch has garnered much acclaim for its unique time display.  It combines a jumping hour complication with a remarkable "butterfly wing" minutes display comprised of retracting lozenge hands oriented 180-degrees from one another.   Controlled by a specialized mechanism, these blued steel or red gold lozenge hands pivot 90-degrees upon their own axis, and display minutes on the semi-circular guilloched dial sector.  Small seconds appear at the center of the dial, in a small aperture, which like the hour and butterfly-shaped minute sectors, has its own anti-glare treated sapphire crystal.  

Animating these functions is the DR115 caliber, which uses as its base the self-winding Girard-Perregaux 3100 caliber specially elaborated to accommodate the Daniel Roth Papillon module.  Power reserve is 45 hours, and the frequency of the glucydur balance is 28,800 alternations per hour.   An elliptical sapphire crystal exhibition window reveals the finely decorated movement, which presents a circular grained mainplate, Cotes de Geneve on the bridges, and a gold rotor with an intricate guilloche pattern.

The Daniel Roth Ellipsocurvex Papillon watches are fitted with straps in hand-sewn alligator leather, and folding clasps in rose or white gold.  Water resistance of the case is rated for 30 meters.
