Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Medium Saint-Valentin Watch

In anticipation of the amorous month of February, luxury Swiss watchmaker Jaquet Droz has revealed a whimsically elegant timepiece that is sure to stir the hearts of women.  Presented in a "numerus clausus" limited edition of 88 pieces, the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Medium Saint-Valentin watch merges classical watchmaking craftsmanship with whimsical cues of romance, to produce an object of charm and subtle surprise.

The polished round case of the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Medium Saint-Valentin watch measures 39mm in diameter.  Beneath the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is a superb ivory enamel dial created by the arduous traditional technique of "Grand Feu", in which porcelain glaze is oven-fired in multiple processes, at extremely high temperature.  The overlapping circles for the subsidiary seconds display and off-centered hours and minutes--a signature of the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde timepiece--displays fiery red hands in this model; in keeping with the themes of passion and devotion, the seconds hand features a counter-weight with a small heart.  A hand-sewn strap in red alligator leather with a rolled edge and a white gold ardillon buckle completes the distinctive ensemble.

The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Medium Saint-Valentin watch is controlled by a self-winding mechanical movement, which can be be viewed through a sapphire exhibition window in the caseback.   Designated as the JD 2663 caliber, this movement features a balance wheel that oscillates 28,800 times per hour, and a system of two mainspring barrels that assures a generous 68-hour power reserve.  Aesthetic refinements include an engraved 22-karat gold winding rotor, and bridges that display Cotes de Geneve patterns. 

The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Medium Saint-Valentin watch is water resistant to 30 meters.  Each of the 88 watches in the series will display their engraved individual number on the caseback.
