MB&F Horological Machine No. 2 Arrives In Ceramic

The high luxury watchmaking firm of MB&F has announced the introduction of ceramic-cased variations of its Horological Machine No 2.  An appropriate match for the high-tech, artistically conceived complications the HM2 watch presents, the ceramic case required more than 18 months of development to produce in its final form, requiring advanced diamond milling tools to precisely shape the remarkably hard material. Also striking is the finishing techniques which the MB & F artisans have employed--the ceramic case of the Horological Machine No. 2 showcases a brushed satin texture, which stands in contrast to the more common semi-gloss finish of many other ceramic-cased timepieces.  

MB&F will offer two distinctive variations of the Horological Machine No. 2 Ceramic.  The luxurious HM2-CR watch features opulent red gold bezels and an MB & F nameplate, while the HM2-CTi presents these same contrasting elements in  ultra-light titanium.  Both watches display a sophisticated yet readily legible two-tone black and ruthenium color scheme for their twin dials.  

The self-winding mechanical movement of the MB & F Horological Machine No. 2 Ceramic watch animates jumping hours and retrograde minutes  in the right-side dial, and a retrograde date function and dual-hemisphere moon phase indicator on the left.  Jean-Marc Wiederrecht contributed his technical expertise to the development of the specialized caliber, most notably in the creation of exclusive, asymmetrically toothed gear wheels that optimize precision and minimize play in the jump hour and retrograde minute functions.  

Production of the MB & F Horological Machine No. 2 Ceramic watch will be restricted to 66 pieces in the ceramic/titanium variant, and 33 in the ceramic/red gold combination.  In addition to the sapphire crystals over the twin dials, the highly intricate caseback also features a sapphire window, through which the finely decorated base movement with its battle ax-inspired gold rotor can be admired.  The watches are completed by a crocodile leather strap and an extra-wide tang buckle.
