The Ulysse Nardin Ulysse 1 watches present a combination of fine craftsmanship and exclusive materials to honor the founder of Ulysse Nardin, whose Le Locle watchmaking shop would soon be famous far beyond the borders of Switzerland.  The 40mm rose gold case of the Ulysse 1 watch is massive, and displays exceptionally fine workmanship; particularly striking are the elaborately shaped lugs which give the case an almost Scarab-like profile.  The dial of this watch, available in white or black offers a sumptuous array of details for fine examination, such as the pyramid shaped gold hour indices, and classical "Poire" hands crafted from richly blued steel, or polished gold.

Animated by the excellent selfwinding UN-27 Caliber movement, the Ulysse Nardin Ulysse 1 watch displays a fascinating power reserve complication, based upon a power reserve mechanism first shown on a Ulysse Nardin pocketwatch from 1812.  This device showcases a hand and a reserve scale which move together to show the remaining tension in the mainspring, a solution quite different from the more typical power reserve indicators which utilize only a hand.
