IWC Pilot Watch

Ask any watch collector which Swiss Manufacturer is best know for designing Pilot’s watches and they will answer IWC. Since the early 1930’s IWC, based in Schaffhausen Switzerland, has been producing the world’s finest and most durable Pilot’s Watches. IWC first produced the Big Pilot’s watch in 1936 and then quickly expanded the Pilot’s Watch line to include the Double Chronograph, the Chronograph Automatic, the Mark XV, the Spitfire Double Chronograph, the Spitfire Chronograph Automatic, the Spitfire UTC, and the Spitfire Mark XV.

IWC’s Double Chronograph was launched in 1992 and features a 42 mm case, black dial, day and date windows and split seconds functions that are controlled by a push button at ten o’clock. IWC offers the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph in steel and leather and an all steel version. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Automatic is essentially the same as the Double Chronograph but with out the split second timer at ten o’clock, but in a smaller 39 mm case. Both the IWC Double Chronograph and the Chronograph Automatic are water resistant to 60 meters.

For those seeking a more understated Pilots watch from IWC we recommend the Pilot’s Watch Mark XV. This Pilot’s watch was first launched as the Mark 11 and quickly became a collector’s item. Set in a more conservative 38 mm case the Mark XV features an automatic movement and date indicator. For a sportier version consider the Spitfire Double Chronograph. This split chrono comes in a larger 42 mm case with a white dial and leather strap or a black dial with a stainless steel bracelet. IWC also manufactures the Spitfire UTC in a smaller 39 mm case for those travelers who want the convenience of a dual time zone watch.
