Glashutte watches have a distinct and elegant look. The Pano line of watches epitomizes this look with a very understated round mid size case. The Glashutte designers have mastered the art of fitting several important complications into a mid sized dial while not making it appear too cluttered. At the heart of the PanoGraph watch is the Caliber 61 manual winding movement. Glashutte, unlike several of their better know Swiss competitors, manufacturers all of their movements in house.
The movement which powers the PanoGraph is complex to say the least. Glashutte has created a unique dial design where the main dial of the watch is off set to the left side of the dial. Just below the main dial is a smaller sub dial for the seconds counter for the chronograph function. What is truly unique about the chronograph function in this timepiece is the sectoral 30 minute counter. This function is set in a half moon shaped window on the upper right edge of the dial.
Inside this counter window are three rows of numbers each one representing a ten minute segment of the 30 minute counter. The watch indicates which ten minute segment it is measuring with a hand that reaches to that specific measuring line on the counter wheel. Glashutte has made the date very easy to read by placing it in what they call a panorama (hence the name of the collection) window at four o’clock position. As watch collectors we appreciate the clean and uncluttered dial on the PanoGraph. Glashutte has managed to keep a noticeable portion of the dial empty while still displaying several important complications. Glashutte offers the PanoGraph in a limited edition platinum version, rose gold or stainless steel.
