The Glashutte Original Senator Calendar watch sits proudly atop the wrist, its 40mm case a fine balance between modern sensibilities and elegance. Superb polishing distinguishes this classical case design, which is available in either stainless steel or 18K gold, and is fitted with a gently curved sapphire crystal. The matte, silvered dial is a beautiful presentation for the idiosyncratic calendar displays, which include a pointer-style day and month indicators, as well as a charming moonphase display and the characteristic Glashutte Original panorama date. The elegantly shaped hands traverse this horological canvas, and shimmer with the dedicated labor of the artisan. Visible to the admiring eye beneath a transparent sapphire crystal window in the caseback, is the exclusive Caliber 100 automatic movement. Conceived and manufactured by Glashutte Original, this mechanism offers a complete calendar which displays day, date, month, and phases of the moon. The appealing large date display, comprising two concentrically arranged discs changes instantaneously and is extremely easy to read. The power reserve of the caliber 100 movement is approximately 55-hours, and it winds efficiently on the wrist, thanks to an efficient bi-directional rotor, which is outfitted with a 21K gold segment for added inertia.

Traditional decorations reveal the love of Glashutte Original watchmakers for their work; the three-quarter plate and rotor shimmers with a ribbed finish, while the balance cock is fitted with a gleaming swan neck fine adjustment that has been polished by hand. The balance wheel, which alternates 28,800 times each hour, is outfitted with 18 solid gold mass screws.
