Girard Perregaux Cat's Eye Watch

Girard Perregaux launched the Cat’s Eye watch in 2005 at the SIHH show in Geneva. This ladies watch has been a huge success since it was introduced. Girard Perregaux has been known as a manufacturer of complex timepieces mostly for men until the launch of the Cat’s eye. One first notices the oval case shape of the Cat’s Eye. Most ladies watches made in Switzerland have either round or rectangular case shapes so the Cat’s Eye is a refreshing changes. Girard Perregaux has smartly designed two versions of this timepiece. The first version has the oval oriented vertically, and the second has it oriented horizontally. We like both versions for different reasons.

The Cat’s Eye watch comes is powered by an automatic movement and is available in pink, yellow or white gold. GP made a bold choice when they decided to use only mother of pearl for all dials on the Cat’s Eye. You can choose from a white, black, dark blue or silver mother of pearl dial. GP’s designers kept the dial very clean by only placing Arabic hour markers at the quarter hours and moving the seconds hand to a sub dial on the bottom half of the watch.

A moon phase indicator is elegantly incorporated into this sub dial to give the Cat’s Eye a level of sophistication. Each version has diamond hour markers, and you can opt for a version that has a full diamond bezel. There is a glass case back one can examine the movement. Each Girard Perregaux Cat’s Eye is finished with a silk strap available in pink, brown or blue. The horizontal version of the Cat’s Eye has a different dial configuration. There is a date window set at two o’clock, a seconds sub dial at nine o’clock and a power reserve indicator at five o’clock. While this dial is busier than the vertically oriented version, we like its unique design.
