Corum Classical Vanitas watches

The Corum Classical Vanitas watches are an assemblage of limited edition timepieces whose handcrafted dials provide a subtle reminder to "seize the day". These stunningly unique watches employ the difficult technique of marquetry--the piecing together of free-form pieces of precious stone and marble--to offer hauntingly beautiful themes that reflect upon the fleeting nature of life.

Corum has introduced a series of dials in the Vanitas watch collection, all of which feature different themes, yet are united by the appearance of the symbolic skull. Due to their handcrafted nature, each marquetry dial is a singular work of art, and even within the same series, no two dials will ever be exactly alike.

The Corum Classical Vanitas watches are animated by a precise Swiss ETA movement, whose precision and reliability is established. Each of these movements must undergo and pass 15 days of tests at one of the centers of the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (COSC), which subject its precision to a range of positions and temperatures. After passing these examinations, each of these movements may then hold the title of "Chronometer".

A glimpse into the movement through the sapphire caseback reveals bridges decorated with perlage and a central rotor signed with the Corum insignia. The Corum Classical Vanitas timepieces feature an elegant round 42mm case made from 18K yellow, pink, or white gold; each is distinguished by a fine polished finish, and a uniquely tapered case band decorated with striations. Optionally, the Vanitas watches are available with a bezel and winding crown set with full-cut diamonds. Corum will only offer 50 watches per dial variation in each color of gold. The Corum Classical Vanitas timepieces are complemented by a crocodile strap and an 18K gold deployant clasp.
